Combo synergy

ION+ and Tangerine cover everyday spend. Aeroplan carries the flights. TD's travel earn overlaps with Aeroplan.

Card by card

  • RBC ION+ VisaWhy I'd keep it: Low fee, best rate on groceries, gas and streaming. What I use it for: Everyday spend, for the 3x.Keep
  • TD First Class Travel Visa InfiniteWhy I'd keep it: Fine to keep, but not needed — I rarely reach for it.What I use it for: Travel booked through Expedia for TD, for the 8x.Keep
  • CIBC Aeroplan Visa InfiniteWhy I'd keep it: Free checked bag, and points go furthest on flights. What I use it for: Travel purchases.Keep
  • Tangerine MastercardWhy I'd keep it: No fee, 2% back in the categories you pick. What I use it for: All my bills.Keep

How to optimize

  1. Cancel TD and save the annual fee.
  2. Move its spend to ION+ and Tangerine.
  3. Book Air Canada flights on Aeroplan.
